Article 1 – General principle

  • EUROTECH-UNIVERSITIES ALLIANCE with its registered office at Square de Meeûs 23, 1000 Bruxelles, registered at the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (BCE) of Belgium under number 0553.915.332 (hereafter called “EUROTECH”) exploits the website http://eurotech-universities-hle.eu (hereafter called “the Website”) and has an internal database (hereafter called “the Database”) of contacts relating to its members and stakeholders.
  • EUROTECH is committed to safeguarding the privacy of the user’s Platform and of the persons whose personal information have been uploaded on the Database. In compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) (hereafter called “GDPR”), this privacy policy provides information on how EUROTECH collects, uses and protects this personal information (hereafter called “the Personal data”). All the Personal data is processed in accordance with GDPR.
  • This policy applies where EUROTECH is acting as a data controller with respect to the Personal data of its members and stakeholders contained in the Database. EUROTECH acts as a data controller when it determines the purposes and means of the processing of the Personal data.
  • As part of this privacy policy, the word “Personal data” describes any information which, alone or in combination with any other information at EUROTECH’s disposal, allows EUROTECH to directly or indirectly identify you, and has the same meaning in the GDPR.
  • You are invited to browse this privacy policy (hereafter called “the privacy policy”) and to take note of it.

Article 2 – Information collected

2.1. EUROTECH may process data about your use of the Website (“usage data”). The usage data may include your IP address, geographical location, browser type and version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views and website navigation paths, as well as information about the timing, frequency and pattern of your service use. The source of the usage data is obtained and stored in Google Analytics. Data related to EUROTECH’s marketing emails, including your opening and clicking behaviour, is collected and stored in MailChimp. This usage data may be processed for the purpose of analyzing the use of our website and services and seeking ways to optimize your experience.

2.2. Personal data is collected:

  • when you give EUROTECH your Personal data during conferences, events, etc.
  • when you navigate on the Website or sign up to EUROTECH newsletters
  • when you ask information through the “contact” details provided on this Website

2.3. By navigating on the Platform or giving your personal information during an event or by email, you recognize that EUROTECH has a legitimate interest to process your Personal data. If you wish not to recognize this legitimate interest, please do not use the Platform, do not contact us by email or do not give us your Personal data during events.

Article 3 – Purpose of the Personal data processing

EUROTECH may use the information collected from you in the following ways:

  • To inform you about EUROTECH events, activities, research opportunities in various fields, via EUROTECH newsletters
  • To answer your enquiries promptly and provide consulting services that meet your requests
  • To collect your feedback on EUROTECH services and improve them

Article 4 – Security

Any and all information collected by EUROTECH is kept strictly confidential. EUROTECH takes all the appropriate action to ensure the protection of Personal data. In particular, EUROTECH has set up data encryption of Personal data.

All Personal data provided are used by EUROTECH in accordance with this privacy policy.

Article 5 – Cookies

Cookies are usually small text files, given ID tags that are stored in your computer’s browser directory or programme data subfolders. Cookies are created when you use your browser to visit a website that uses cookies to keep track of your movements within the site.

EUROTECH uses cookies of Google Analytics to gather information about EUROTECH web users’ navigation behaviour to constantly improve our website functions for better user experience.

Article 6 – Third-party disclosure

EUROTECH does not sell or trade any of your personal information to third-parties.

EUROTECH may release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, protect ours or others’ rights, property or safety.

Third-party links

EUROTECH’s website contains third-party links in sections including but not limited to: Universities’ websites, Google maps and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)

These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. EUROTECH, therefore, has no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Platform and welcome any feedback about these sites. You can send your feedback to us at info@eurotech-universities.eu.

Third-parties

EUROTECH may transfer your data to third-parties according to the way described in this privacy policy.

EUROTECH works with third-parties and it may happen that those parties have access to your Personal data. In this regard, our suppliers that may have access to your Personal data are the following:

  • Event Brite
  • Mail chimp
  • Novabee

Article 7 – Opposition right

7.1. You have the right to oppose to the Personal data processing and the use of Personal information to inform you. This right can be exercised in writing an email to: info@eurotech-universities.eu

7.2. You can unsubscribe from EUROTECH newsletters by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the end of each newsletter.

Article 8 – Access to your information, correction, erasure and limitation of the processing

In accordance with article 15 of the GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of the information that EUROTECH holds about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email info@eurotech-universities.eu or write to us at our registered office mentioned on article 1.

In accordance with article 16, 17 and 17 of the GDPR, you may ask EUROTECH to correct information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask for your Personal data to be erased. You also have the right to ask EUROTECH to limit the processing of your Personal data.

You can exercise those rights by writing an email to the following address: info@eurotech-universities.eu  by writing a standard letter and sending it to the EUROTECH registered office.

Article 9 – Portability rights

You also have the right to receive the Personal data related to you and that you gave to EUROTECH, in a structured format, commonly used and readable by a machine and the right to forward this data to another data controller when the processing is based on consent or a contract and is carried out by automated means.

Article 10 – Personal data retention

EUROTECH can retain your Personal data during a period not exceeding what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or for which they are processed.

Article 11 – Changes to EUROTECH privacy policy 

EUROTECH keeps its privacy policy under regular review and will place any updates on the Website and send an email to all persons whose Personal data are processed by EUROTECH.

Article 12 – Notification of a data breach

To be in line with GDPR, should a data breach occur, EUROTECH will notify you via email and place a notification on the Platform within 72 hours.

Article 14 – Right of complaint

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial appeal, you have the right to introduce a complaint to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State in which you have your habitual residence, work place or place of the alleged violation if you consider that the Personal data processing infringes the GDPR.
